Oxfam Pail Walker (Cancelled)
CANCELLED DUE TO THE POOR WEATHER. SORRY!
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th
From 11 a.m. onward, join us for a Mudder’s Day celebration event on the Halifax Commons which will include a Pail Walker challenge, food, music, storytelling, nature crafts and family fun.
Take part in Oxfam’s Mother’s Day Pail Walker Action
Show solidarity for women and girls in the Global South by carrying buckets of water. You’ll discover the strength and endurance needed to find and carry water, a basic human need that most Canadians take for granted.
In many countries, girls and women find and haul water for all household needs—cooking, drinking, washing and cleaning. For millions of women and girls this means carrying an average of 20 litres of water each day, walking three kilometers each way. The water may not be clean and the route is rarely safe. Too often there is no time left for growing and cooking food, studies or paid work.
What can you do?
1. Complete a pledge/donation sheet. Raise funds for Oxfam’s global water projects.
2. Take part in the Pail Walker water relay on Sunday May 11.
(Pail Walker races at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5p.m.)
3. Bring your parents and friends!
